Nearly one year after suffering fractures to both his right knee and hip, former Prime Minister PJ Patterson appears to be making great progress in his recovery.

On Wednesday, a video of the 85-year-old former prime minister walking unassisted was shared on social media. The  footage shows the elder statesman taking nearly 60 steps unaided.

A number of social media users have reacted to the video with words of support for Patterson, wishing him continued progress towards a full recovery. Watch the video below.

Patterson suffered the injuries in a motor vehicle crash at his St Andrew home in October of last year.

He underwent surgery at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) days after the accident. Dr Kenneth Vaughn, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at the UHWI, led the medical team that treated the former prime minister.
