Concerned citizens have rallied to the aid of Grace, a prostitute who in a Loop News article last week, detailed her financial and emotional struggles amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stacy-Ann Smith, founder and director of Pursued International Foundation, said her organisation was deeply moved by Grace's plight and decided to offer assistance as part of an outreach programme to sex workers.

"Since the pandemic, we have been providing grocery care packages for the ladies. We are pleased to provide Grace with groceries for her and her four children," Smith told Loop News

Pursued International made the donation to Grace via the Jamaica AIDS Support for Life (JASL). Another sex worker, identified by the JASL as being in need, was also given a care package. The organisation shared a video of the initiative on social media.

Grace, who lives in Montego Bay, St James, was very appreciative of the gesture.

"This is a life saver, trust me, this will go a long way to helping me and my four kids," she said.

Pursued International Foundation conducts outreach programmes to sex workers in the Kingston area.
