Senior ‘with Jamaican accent' booked on sexual charges in Florida
A senior citizen with a Jamaican accent was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint at an apartment complex in Lauderhill, Florida back in June.
Ishmael Joshua Brown, a 63-year-old resident of Lauderhill, Florida, was charged with sexual assault with a weapon and sexual battery of a victim aged over 12 years.
He was booked into the Broward County Jail and has been held without bond.
Allegations are that on June 13, 2020 at about 11:30 pm, a woman was walking towards Building H of the Cypress Grove Apartment Homes complex in Lauderhill when Brown grabbed her by the wrist.
"It’s been a long time since I killed someone. Come with me or I am gonna shoot you," he allegedly told her, according to an arrest report, a US media report indicated.
The woman complied and Brown reportedly took her behind the building near to a group of trees, and ordered her to perform a sex act.
Based on the allegations, he subsequently released the woman and she later reported the incident to the police.
She told officers that her attacker "wore a black hat, black scarf around his face, and black pants, and had a deep voice with a Jamaican accent like hers, and he sounded familiar," media reports indicated.
DNA samples were obtained from the woman when she reported her attack, and some of her clothing was recovered from the crime scene.
On September 11, laboratory test results linked the DNA samples to Brown from a database in California, USA, where he once resided.
According to reports, it was discovered that Brown also resided at the same apartment complex as his alleged victim, and investigators searched the premises on Wednesday.
Despite Brown denying the allegations that have been levelled against him, he was subsequently arrested and charged.
He has since submitted a fresh DNA sample to Lauderhill police in Florida.
