One on One launches skills gap test for CXC students

Students planning to sit the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) next month can now accurately pinpoint areas they need to review as they prepare for their upcoming examinations.

This is thanks to the One on One 'Skills Gap Test' feature now available on the platform.

It is part of the recent agreement with One on One Educational Services and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information to provide a Virtual School through which students can access Live Classes in several subject areas.

Earlier this year, the regional examinations body, Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) indicated that, following the impact of COVID-19, CAPE and CSEC will be administered in July of this year.

One on One is providing structured support for students in 17 CSEC and 16 CAPE subjects from Monday, June 15 until all examinations are completed.

President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of One on One, Ricardo Allen, aspires to have at least 50 per cent of the students sitting the exams to take at least one Skills Gap Test by next month.

“The Skills Gap Tests allow you to identify your strengths and rectify weaknesses in all subject areas, ahead of sitting the actual exams".

Depending on students' final scores, they will then be recommended live workshops and or/self-paced content and quizzes needed to close the gap.

Allen believes that this partnership will provide some much-needed stability for students as they prepare to take their exams.

"COVID19 was an unexpected occurrence which impacted the ability of the students to prepare for their exams adequately. Teachers were also forced to revamp their teaching style at what can only be described as an inopportune time. This CXC Workshop Series is aimed at picking up where we may have fallen short and ensuring that our students are not just prepared to sit the exams but prepared to pass them".
