One COVID death, 126 new cases

One COVID-19 related death and 126 new cases were recorded across Jamaica on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The deceased is a 61-year old female of from St James who had multiple co-morbidities, the ministry said.

The latest fatality bring the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 76.

The 126 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours bring the total number of cases on record for the island to 5,395. Recoveries remain at 1,444.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 65 are females and 58 are males, while the sex classification of three persons are yet to be confirmed; ages range from two to 99 years. The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (67), St James (20), St Ann (16), St Catherine (10), Manchester (seven), Clarendon (two), Trelawny (two), Hanover (one) and Westmoreland (one).

Thirty-one moderately ill patients and seven critically ill patients are among the 3,792 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
