Banks are cutting their operating hours to protect staff and customers in light of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) locally.

The two latest banks to announce reduced opening hours include CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and Sagicor Bank. NCB and Scotiabank announced adjustments earlier this week.

Effective Monday, March 23, 2020, all branches of CIBC FirstCaribbean will open from 9 am to 1.30 pm between Monday and Friday.

Customers are being encouraged to use the bank’s online banking, mobile app services and instant tellers, where possible, to avoid waiting in branch, CIBC said in a statement.

Sagicor Bank Jamaica has also announced reduced banking hours, effective Monday, March 23.

All branches, except for the Manor Park location, will open between 9 am and 1.30 pm from Monday to Friday.

The Manor Park branch will open from 10 am to 2 pm between Monday and Saturday.

Sagicor Bank's customers are encouraged to utilise the company's electronic banking platform.
