A group of Mico University College past students recently donated over $200,000 towards tuition fees for the academic year 2020/2021.

A representative of the group, batch #154, Prim Lewis said the donation was part of its efforts to give back to the institution.

“We are presenting this token of appreciation for what the Mico has done for us. We are products of the Mico and we are proud of the Mico. We saw the appeal on Facebook some time ago where the college was reaching out to past students for support for current students,” Lewis said.

She noted that the recent donation would assist five students this semester. The aim is to contribute to the studies of others enrolled at Mico.

“We are appealing to others out there from the Mico to step up and be counted. Donate because the students are really in need. Whether you do it in cash or kind; we are asking that you join us in donating to the students of the Mico.”

The Mico University College, in May, launched a ‘COVID-19 Relief Programme’ aimed at raising US$1 million to support students who have been experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In addition to the COVID relief fund, the Mico has waived late fees and extended the deadline for payment of fees.

Donations can be made to The Mico Foundation, National Commercial Bank (NCB) Duke Street Branch, account number: 062323299.
