Jamaica records one additional COVID death, 193 new cases

Jamaica recorded one more COVID-19 related death and 193 new cases on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The deceased is a 58-year-old female of a Manchester address whose case was formerly reported as under investigation,

The death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica is 77..

The 193 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases bring the total number of infections on record for the island to 5,588. Recoveries increased by 46, bringing total recoveries to 1,490.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 101 are females and 91 are males, with the sex classification of one person not yet confirmed; ages range from 11 months to 84 years. The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (81), St Catherine (42), St James (17), St Ann (14), Clarendon (10), Westmoreland (six), St Elizabeth (six), St Mary (six), St Thomas (five), Portland (three), Manchester (one), Hanover (one) and Trelawny (one).

Thirty-seven moderately ill patients and eight critically ill patients are among the 3,939 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
