The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) became the first team to go through an entire Caribbean Premier League CPL) season undefeated as they cruised to an eight-wicket victory over the St Lucia Zouks in the final, on Thursday, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago.

A four-wicket haul from captain Kieron Pollard was followed by a thrilling century partnership between Lendl Simmons (84 not out) and Darren Bravo (58 not out) to take them past St Lucia Zouks' score of 154. The Knight Riders ended on 157 for two to win with 11 balls to spare for a fourth CPL title

After they were put in to bat, the Zouks raced off to 60 for one after six overs as the Knight Riders, who were without an injured Sunil Narine, struggled to control the aggressive pair of Andre Fletcher (39) and Mark Deyal (29).

However, the introduction of Pollard and Fawad Ahmed saw a change in the dynamics of the game, with both batsmen dismissed in the space of 14 balls.

The Knight Riders assumed control after that with Pollard taking 4 for 30, including two wickets and a run out in the 19th over, and Fawad Ahmed supported with two for 22.

Roston Chase (22) and Najibullah Zadran (24) briefly raised hopes of resurrecting Zouks' hopes with a fourth wicket partnership of 26 before Pollard ended hopes of a total over 175.

Akeal Hosein was also economical with one for 26, while Ali Khan took two for 25 as the Zouks were restricted to 154 off 19.1 overs.

Chasing 155 for victory, the Knight Riders lost Tion Webster (five) and Tim Siefert (four) early for 19 runs, before Simmons and Darren Bravo slowly rebuilt the innings.

SUMMARISED SCORES:

Lucia Zouks (Fletcher 39, Deyal 29, Zadran 24, Chase 22; Pollard 4/30, Fawad 2/22, Ali Khan 2/25).

Trinbago Knight Riders (Simmons 84 not out, DM Bavo 58 not out; Chase 1/13).
