Hanover man charged with abduction, rape, robbery and more

The Hanover police have charged a man who has been accused of abducting, robbing and raping a woman in the parish in March.

The accused has been identified as 41-year-old Anthony McNaughton of a Hanover address.

Reports are that about 7.30 pm on Sunday, March 1, McNaughton was driving a Nissan AD Wagon motorcar along the Reading main road in St James when upon reaching a section of the road, he allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded that a female who was on board hand over her cell phone.

It is further alleged that subsequently, he forcibly had sexual intercourse with the woman.

The matter was later reported to the police and McNaughton was on Tuesday arrested and charged with rape, forcible abduction, grievous sexual assault, robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm.
