Fusion Optimist Club of New Kingston chartered
Twenty-five members of the new Fusion Optimist Club of New Kingston were chartered into the Optimist International Movement last Saturday by Field Representative Distinguished Centennial Governor Marcia Streete Hendricks.
The club was the first new club formed for the year and will provide assistance, mentoring, community services and other opportunities for the youths in and around the area.
Governor Dr Winsome Halliman welcomed the new club members and expressed her delight in having them a part of the “Ignite … Choose Optimism” year. She congratulated the club for being the first chartered for the Movement’s new year and praised them for being well prepared to take on the charge of bringing out the best in the nation’s children.
“Our aim was the fusing together a small family of exceptional individuals who are confident, ambitious and achievement oriented all with the love for children and philanthropy,” said new club President Suzanne Brown. She offered that with “busy lives, it may be hard at times to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous, offering important help to children in need and the wider community”.
She added that new members are always welcomed and invited persons to contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org or 876-276-5444 to join.
