Four stocks decline by 11% on Friday
Four stocks lost 11 per cent of their value on Friday, leading declines on trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
The negative 11 per cent club included SSL Ventures closing at $0.75, MPC Caribbean at $151, Jetcon down to $0.80 and Elite Diagnostics down to $3.40.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 82 stocks of which 40 advanced, 32 declined and 10 traded firm.
On the winning side, three stocks made double-digit gains including Sterling Investments US dollar stock up 15 per cent on the day to close at US$0.02, Medical Disposables & Supplies Ltd up 12 per cent to close at $6.59 followed by Derrimon Trading up 11 per cent to close at $2.49.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 2,161.45 points (0.57 per cent) to close at 374,604.23.
The JSE Index declined by 2,589.23 points (0.68 per cent) to close at 377,364.54. The Junior Market Index advanced by 20.68 points (0.82 per cent) to close at 2,546.69. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.62 points (0.32 per cent) to close at 190.39. The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.66 points (0.66 per cent) to close at 99.07. The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index advanced by 1.33 points (1.75 per cent) to close at 77.51.
Market volume amounted to 23,294,480 units valued at over $142 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 9,920,781 units (42.6 per cent) followed by Transjamaican Highway with 4,560,296 units (19.6 per cent) and Sagicor Select Funds-Financial with 1,394,665 units (5.99per cent) .
