Veteran politician Dr Fenton Ferguson says People's National Party (PNP) presidential aspirant Mark Golding has the appropriate experience and skills to lead the party at this time.

Ferguson is the latest in a number of prominent PNP members to endorse Golding to become the next PNP president.

He made his thoughts known in a one-minute social media video.

"I am supporting Mark Golding. I believe he is a man for time and a man for the season. He is one who represents a unifying force," Ferguson, a former PNP vice-president, said.

"I believe that with his experience in government as Minister of Justice, in the party as treasurer, and in his own constituency of St Andrew Southern, he has demonstrated that he is a people person.

"He has good communication skills, he has good interpersonal skills, and I believe that at this time, the party needs a Mark Golding," he continued.

After being the parliamentary representative for East St Thomas for six terms, Ferguson was defeated by the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Michelle Charles in the September 3 General Election.

Ferguson joins Dr Angela Brown-Burke, Patricia Duncan-Sutherland, Noel Arscott, Anthony Hylton, Scean Branswell, Anthony Oconner, and Lydia Richards as some of the pre-eminent PNP members to support Golding's campaign.

Meanwhile, Dr Morais Guy, Denise Daley, Mickael Phillips, Natalie Neita, Dr Andre Haughton, Dwayne Vaz and Audrey Facey-Smith are among the well-known PNP politicians supporting South East St Ann Member of Parliament, Lisa Hanna, for party president.

The delegates of the 82-year-old political organisation will select their new leader on November 7.
