Father Patrick the one to beat in six-and-half-furlong event

Trainer Ian Parsard’s FATHER PATRICK is the ante-post favourite for Saturday’s restricted allowance at Caymanas Park, an event attracting 10 non-winners-of-four races, all local-breds, going six and a half furlongs in the 10th event.

FATHER PATRICK chased home stablemate and 2000 Guineas contender, MAHOGANY, in a fast-run event at five and a half furlongs last Saturday, finishing ahead of the speedy three-year-old filly, ENGLAND’S ROSE.

Six-time former champion jockey, Omar Walker, replaces apprentice Youville Pinnock as FATHER PATRICK renews rivalry with BALTUSROL, one of four runners entered by champion trainer Anthony Nunes.

DUKE, a closing sprinter, is also in the line-up. DUKE won first time out for his new trainer, Gary Subratie, beating ACTION RUN two Saturdays ago. ROY ROGERS, FORMAL FASHION, TRULY AMAZING, and FATHER PATRICK are the outright sprinters in the line-up.

FATHER PATRICK opened his 2020 season mid-February, reporting off an eight-month lay-up, ran wide into the straight and finished two and a quarter lengths behind BALTUSROL at five furlongs round. Returning March 7, he slammed United States-bred ACTION RUN at five furlongs straight.

FATHER PATRICK, a runner-up to top-class TOONA CILIATA in last year’s Prince Consort Stakes for three-year-olds, returned to show his class last Saturday, keeping pace with MAHOGANY before his younger, classic-bound stablemate found an extra gear and moved away in the stretch run.

Post time on the card is 12:15 pm.
