Father Patrick hard to beat in BGLC Trophy race
Trainer Ian Parsard’s FATHER PATRICK is the ante-post favourite for Saturday’s Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) Trophy, going five and a half furlongs at Caymanas Park.
FATHER PATRICK’s main rival in the 12-horse field is DUKE, who he beat at the exact weights at six and a half furlongs a month ago.
Using speed and class, FATHER PATRICK easily tracked pacesetter TRULY AMAZING and took charge at the top of the straight. Parsard’s runner was two and a half lengths clear of DUKE up to a furlong out. DUKE grabbed second almost on the line from TRULY AMAZING.
PEKING CRUZ, DUNROBIN and GOD OF LOVE are among the faster runners in the event but FATHER PATRICK is a cut above, beaten only by stablemate MAHOGANY in his previous race and returned to gallop 1:13.0 for six furlongs at exercise in preparation for this assignment.
Omar Walker has been retained aboard FATHER PATRICK whereas Robert Halledeen will partner DUKE, who had returned as a winner at five furlongs round following his loss to Parsard’s speedster.
The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission Trophy is the 10th and final event of the afternoon. First post is 12:20 pm.
