Eppley preference shares led gains on Thursday
Eppley preference shares led gains during Thursday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
The stock gained 18.4 per cent to close at $5.92 followed by Portland JSX, which gained 12.5 per cent to close at $9.00.
The top declining stock on the day was Knutsford Express down 11.4 per cent to close at $7.00.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 1,150.05 points (0.31 per cent) to close at 368,349.30 and the JSE Index declined by 1,086.54 points (0.29 per cent) to close at 369,994.31.
Also on the day, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,202.72 points (0.30 per cent) to close at 405,477.48. The Junior Market Index declined by 14.00 points (0.54 per cent) to close at 2,596.02. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 2.55 points (1.35 per cent) to close at 186.31.
The JSE Financial Index advanced by 0.08 points (0.08 per cent) to close at 95.69.
The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.76 points (1.00 per cent) to close at 75.44.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 78 stocks of which 33 advanced, 32 declined and 13 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 23 million units valued at over $117.8 million. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 8.0 million units (34.61per cent) followed by Transjamaican Highway with 4,425,344 units (19.21 per cent) and Mailpac Group with 2,800,768 units (12.16 per cent).
