Creative Brands offers scholarships to student leaders
In a bid to develop leadership skills in local youth, Creative Brands & Concepts Limited will award scholarships to two student leaders in Jamaica.
"We are looking to develop youth leaders," Erica McKenzie, the founder of the seven-year-old business consulting and training company, told Loop News.
"Youths are often exposed to leadership when they reach tertiary development, often through personal development courses," McKenzie continued.
"What we have decided to do is to introduce leadership at the high school level, so students between 13 and 17 will be immersed in a programme to develop youth leaders because we see the necessity in having these critical skills developed at an early age. We are certifying youngsters to be internationally certified youth leaders. It will be a continuous roll out across the schools," she said.
The scholarship will be awarded to two outstanding students between the ages of 13 and 17 years old, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and have served and made an impact in his or her community.
"Can you imagine the beauty and magnificence of a generation of young student leaders? Students will be able to get tutoring and mentoring from Jamaica's finest who will provide them with the necessary skills and go through the curriculum to become youth leaders. They will return to their schools and teach their peers. It's interesting times," McKenzie said.
Students can enter the scholarship contest by writing an essay in no more than 300 words describing the true meaning of leadership from their perspective and provide supporting details about how they have been providing leadership in their communities. They can submit the essay via the website, www.creativebrandsandconcepts.com
Students are being asked to register their interest by completing an online application by October 30, 2020 along with a written recommendation from their school form teacher, pastor or Justice of the Peace. These essays will be judged by an expert panel of leaders. The overall winner will be groomed by world-class certified and trained coaches to become better influencers among their peers.
The scholarship will be presented at the John Maxwell Company global Live2Lead Conference on November 27, 2020 at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew.
Additionally, the youth development initiative intends to guide youngsters to develop critical skills to navigate life with confidence, courage and character. Students will also be enrolled in a cutting-edge leadership training programme. Upon completion they will receive the international John Maxwell Team Youth Certification.
