Businessman Steven Causewell has lost his appeal against his conviction for the murder of his girlfriend 12 years ago.

The Court of Appeal on Thursday refused an application by Causewell’s attorneys for leave to challenge his conviction.

Causewell is serving a life sentence for the 2008 murder of Nadia Mitchell at her Oakland Apartments home, on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew.

The domestic violence trial in 2016 drew a national spotlight.

Causewell was taken into custody in July 2008 and charged with murder. Allegations were that he had thrown Mitchell from the third floor of her apartment, resulting in her death.

In an unsworn statement from the prisoners’ dock during the trial, Causewell admitted being involved in a dispute with Mitchell but said he did not kill her.
