Big declines during Monday's trading
On Monday more stocks declined than advanced with the biggest swings being Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances down 25 per cent, according to the trading summary on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
The overall market activity resulted from trading in 80 stocks of which 31 advanced, 38 declined and 11 traded firm.
The biggest gainer was AMG Packaging up 15 per cent to close at $1.86 followed by Main Event also up 15 per cent to close at $3.98, and the preference shares of 138 Student Living gained 14 per cent to close at $7.91.
The big declining stock went to Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances down 25 per cent to $2.31. MPC Capital declined by 20 per cent to $135 and Ttech down 19 per cent to $5.18.
The JSE Combined Index declined by 1,854.83 points ( 0.50 per cent) to close at 366,778.40; the JSE Index declined by 1,717.05 points ( 0.46 per cent) to close at 369,677.88; the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 4.52 points ( 2.29 per cent) to close at 192.53.
The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.40 points ( 0.41 per cent) to close at 96.97.
The JSE Manufacturing & Distribution Index declined by 0.23 points ( 0.31 per cent) to close at 74.33.
Market volume amounted to 20.4 million units valued at over $188.9 million. Transjamaican Highway was the volume leader with 5.7 million units (27.93 per cent) followed by Transjamaican Highway (USD) with 4.2 million units (20.47per cent) and Wigton Windfarm with 3.7 million units (18.1 per cent).
