21,000 teachers receive tablets under Tablets for Teachers Programme

e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited (eLearning Jamaica) has completed the main distribution of tablets and accessories to approximately 21,000 eligible teachers islandwide under the Tablets for Teachers Programme.

The Tablets for Teachers Programme is an initiative coming out of a Heads of Agreement between the Government of Jamaica (GoJ) and the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), signed May 2018. The aim of the programme is to provide teachers with tablet computers for their personal use and curriculum support.

In a press release, CEO of e-Leaning Jamaica, Keith Smith said: “we are happy to have successfully completed this programme and it is worth noting that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made this programme extremely relevant. We are currently reviewing appeals from approximately 3,000 teachers to determine whether they qualify.”

Teachers are reminded that if they have not received a tablet and were in service during the period, they may appeal at https://forms.gle/uF1PYt5zfDYNBZG7A

Smith added: “we are currently conducting post project completion activities and the project is transitioning to the service assurance phase. A help desk is now operational where teachers can get technical and warranty support on use of the devices at https://elearningjahelpdesk.freshservice.com/support/home”
