Young farmer ‘performing stunt on bike’, hit by car, dies

What was expected to be an amusing stunt by a male motorcyclist quickly turned into tragedy on Friday when he was hit by a motor vehicle along the Newell main road in St Elizabeth.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old farmer, Oniel Robinson, of Bigwoods in the parish.

According to reports, the young farmer was performing the stunt, popularly known as a 'wheelie', on his cycle on the roadway when he lost control of the bike and landed in the path of an oncoming motorcar.

He was hit by the vehicle, and sustained multiple injuries.

The driver of the car sustained no injury.

Robinson was assisted to a hospital, where he died while being treated.

The St Elizabeth police are probing the tragic development.
