Principal of the St Francis Basic and Infant school Shallette McIntyre expressed gratitude for the donation. She said the gifts were timely since many parents were struggling with the demands of the back-to-school period.

Sukra acknowledged that a stigma is attached to the beneficiaries of charitable acts, but urged parents to change their mindset because "everyone needs help at some point."

For his part, Hackett commended the parents for providing financial and emotional for their children and encouraged them to continue.

He said their roles must not be taken for granted especially at a time when many parents abandon their responsibilities.

The directors pledged to provide further assistance to the students.
