Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) chairman Solomon Sharpe has announced quarterly incentives for owners, trainers, jockeys, and grooms.

The announcement was made at a press conference at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.

The first quarter of incentives is the Opening Quarter, which will run from January to March. The second quarter is the Classic Meet and will run from April to June. The third quarter - Summer Quarter, will run from July to September, while the final quarter - Champions Quarter - is set for October to December.

The owners with the most win in each quarter will receive $400,000, while $300,000 will go to the trainer with the most wins with a barn size of over 30 horses.   The jockey with the most wins in each quarter will take home $150,000, while the groom with the most victories in each quarter is set to get $100,000.

Sharpe also announced a purse increase of almost $1.5 million for the upcoming Ash Wednesday race day on  February 26 at Caymanas Park. The Ash Wednesday race day will also be used to honour champions from the 2019 horseracing season.

Lorna Gooden, general manager at SVREL, said “we are elated to be honouring our 2019 champions, having been so designated based on their sterling contribution to Caymanas Park and the horse racing product during 2019. We strongly affirm that they are well deserving of the titles earned.”

SVREL also announced that it will continue with its exacta promotion that was launched in December 2019.

“There were a lot of concerns in the public about our takeouts and we did a reduced takeout on the exacta, which was done as a promotion, and it has worked tremendously for consumers, who are very pleased. Our ultimate aim is to satisfy them,” said Sharpe.
