St Mary boy, 9, suspected of ending his own life

A community in St Mary is now mourning the death of a nine-year-old boy.

The boy is suspected of taking his own life on Monday night at his home in Mason Hall in the parish.

Police report that sometime after 7pm, the child was found hanging from his bedroom window.

The St Mary police are investigating the incident.

A mental health/suicide helpline has been established by the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the non-governmental organisation (NGO), Choose Life International (CLI), to provide support to persons in need of assistance.

The helpline, 1-888-NEW-LIFE (1-888-639-5433), is toll-free and provides 24-hour assistance to persons with mental health issues seeking help.
