Soldier shot dead in Clarendon

A soldier was shot and killed and two other persons injured when gunmen carried out an attack near May Pen in Clarendon on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Private of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), Allan
Oswald.


Reports are that about 8:10 p.m., Oswald went to the Woodside community to visit family members.
After the visit, it is reported that he went to a garage, and while there, men drove up on a motorcycle,
pulled guns and opened fire.

Oswald and two other persons at the garage were shot several times. They were rushed to the hospital, where Oswald was pronounced dead and the others were treated for their injuries.


The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
