Sir Alton wins Ronron Trophy in stakes record

Anthony Thomas, the 2018 champion jockey, continues to press leader Dane Nelson at the top of the standings, booting home a three-timer on Sunday's nine-race card, including SIR ALTON in the Ronron Trophy.

Thomas partnered SIR ALTON to consecutive stakes records, posting 1:11.1 for six furlongs, fresh off his 1:04.4 in the War Zone Trophy on August 30.

SIR ALTON made all in fast splits of 22.4 and 45.2, turning back fellow United States-bred, EROY, who had to be pushed  to keep pace.

No match for SIR ALTON, EROY was eased close home by Omar Walker, losing second to GLOCK, who closed from off the pace to narrowly grab second.

Nelson, who started the afternoon three wins ahead of Thomas, notched two winners, SECRET TRAVELLER and DENBIGH LIFE, to stay two clear of his rival.

Thomas piloted CHINAMAXX and DaCosta's ELITlST to victory in the fourth and sixth races, respectively, before closing his three-timer aboard impressive SIR ALTON.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
