Member of Parliament for West Central St Catherine, Dr Christopher Tufton shared the joy of Christmas with over 2,500 children from his constituency who he treated to a fun-filled day of activities at Hope Zoo in Kingston.

The experience - a first time for many of the children in attendance - saw them enjoy upfront interactions with animals, including the shetland pony and the Jamaican yellow snake, which they were able to pet along the hour-long guided tour.

When asked the reason for taking the annual treat outside of St Catherine, Tufton said he wanted to create a unique experience that the children would not forget.

“We had successfully hosted the treat at a park in Kitson Town for the past two years, and though a thrill for the children, we wanted to expose them to life outside the constituency."

The event closed out with on-stage entertainment before the children were presented with a toy to accompany them on their journey home.

Twelve-year-old Ciara, from the Point Hill Division in West Central St Catherine, beamed afterwards: “I loved it."

The Christmas treat was made possible through the kind donations of the Guardsman Group, Juici Patties, Sandals Foundation and Phenomenal System Production.
