One more COVID-19 death recorded locally in 24 hours; 100 new cases
The Ministry of Health and Wellness has announced the recording of one more COVID-19-related death locally within a 24-hour period ending Saturday afternoon, bringing the confirmed COVID-19 death toll nationally to 120.
The new COVID-19-related death is of an 82-year-old male of a St James address.
Additionally, the ministry has advised of 100 new cases of the virus over the same 24-hour period, bringing the total number of confirmed positive cases nationally to 6,895.
The new cases include 43 males and 57 females.
The ages among the new cases range from two to 88 years.
St Catherine led the way with 43 of the new cases, followed closest by Kingston and St Andrew with 26, and St James with 10.
Over the 24-hour period, a total of 536 samples were tested, the ministry reported.
And recoveries also increased over the period, with 115 new recoveries being recorded.
The ministry also reported that of 147 persons now hospitalised for the virus, 41 are moderately ill, while 12 are classified as being critically ill.
