Man on firearm, ammo rap after raid on home in Clarendon

Members of a police/military team arrested a man in relation to the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Boothe Town, Ballieston in upper Clarendon on Saturday.

Reports from the Spalding police are that about 4.30 pm, during an operation, the security team went to a dwelling house. On their arrival, two men ran from the premises.

Another man who was on the premises was accosted and he was searched, along with the premises. During the search, a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing twelve 9mm rounds of ammunition was found in the pocket of a concrete block.

Two motorcars and three cellular phones were also seized by the police. The man was subsequently arrested.

His identity is being withheld, pending further investigations by the police.
