‘Landlord’ and gym instructor both charged with rape

Sleuths from the St Andrew North and St Mary police divisions arrested and charged two men in separate incidents with breaches of the Sexual Offences Act, on Tuesday, September 22.

Accused are 28-year-old Adrian Carby, otherwise called ‘Bikey’, a forklift operator of Coubourn Lane, Whitehall, Kingston 8, and 49-year-old Basil Nelson, a gym instructor of Frazer Wood, Highgate in St Mary.

In the first incident, the St Andrew North police reported that about 8 pm on Thursday, September 17, the now complainant was accompanied by Carby to visit family members.

On their return journey, he reportedly stopped on the Whitehall main road and had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

Carby was subsequently arrested and charged with rape.

In the second incident, the St Mary police reported that on Tuesday, September 8, the now complainant visited Nelson with the intention of renting a premises.

While showing her the premises, Nelson reportedly took her to a room where he had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

The now complainant reported the matter to the police and Nelson was subsequently charged with rape.

The dates for them to appear in court are being finalised by the police in both parishes.
