Here’s What We Know: Montague’s sacking unlikely to come

Following the recent hounding of Dr Andrew Wheatley from office as Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, the new and main target of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) primarily, is Transport and Mining Minister, Robert Montague, for an alleged aspect of his role in the capacity of National Security Minister, which he held up to earlier this year.

It’s all about the reportedly questionable reinstatement of a number of gun licences – especially one in particular – by Montague after the licences were reportedly revoked and denied upon review by the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA).

While it is acknowledged that the actions were within the purview of the minister, the means by which they were reportedly taken has sparked concerns about the process.

With the matter taking on increasing national prominence, especially coming on the very heels of the Wheatley departure, ‘Here’s What We Know' ventures into the subject matter this week with a take on the likely outcome of the issue. This is considering the broad range of factors that will be pertinent to official consideration of the assertions against Montague, including - since we are on this gun issue - that sacking him would be tantamount to the Government shooting itself in the foot.
