Double murder rocks St James
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) in St James are now probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of two cook shop operators at their workplace in the parish on Friday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as 49-year-old Assad Facey, and 45-year-old Michelle Solomon, both of Norwood, St James.
Reports from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are that about 4:25 p.m., the two, who operated a cook shop, were at work when they were pounced upon by a lone gunman who opened gunfire, hitting them.
Upon the arrival of the Montego Hills police who were summoned, the two business partners were found suffering from gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The killings come shortly on the heels of the expiration of the state of emergency in the parish on January 31.
