Cook shop operator shot dead at his establishment in Westmoreland

The Westmoreland police are investigating the murder of a cook shop operator who was shot and killed at his business establishment in the parish on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Marlon Facey, alias ‘Canta’, of Little London, Westmoreland.

Reports are that about 6pm, residents heard gunshots and called the police.

Upon their arrival, the police found Facey lying in a pool of blood suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No motive has so far been established for the killing.

Westmoreland is one of three parishes in western Jamaica that are currently under a state of emergency. (SOE) St James and Hanover are the other two parishes under the same security measures in the region.
