Businesswoman shot dead while trying to defend family from gunmen
A businesswoman who tried to defend her family from gunmen who invaded their home, was shot dead by gunmen in Water Works, Westmoreland on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Crisha Johnson of Byland in Water Works.
Reports are that three masked men broke into the house Johnson shared with her common-law husband and their child, sometime after 3:00 a.m.
The gunmen demanded money and when their demands were not met, they began ransacking a room in the house.
During the ordeal, Johnson reportedly used a knife in an attempt to stab one of the hoodlums, and was shot.
She reportedly died at the scene of the crime.
The gunmen later fled the home and community.
It is unclear whether Johnson's spouse and their child escaped unharmed from the incident.
The Westmoreland police have launched a probe into the development.
