Members of the security forces continued their efforts to dismantle the guns-for-drugs trade with the seizure of more than 2,000 pounds of ganja off the coast of Morant Bay in St Thomas on Saturday, December 28.

Reports from the Narcotics Police Division are that about 6am, members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard intercepted a boat carrying some 2,354 pounds of the illicit drug.

Five men who were aboard the vessel, were taken into custody after the police were alerted.

The vessel was seized along with an undetermined amount of oil and other personal items.

The men remain in custody as the investigations continue.

Their identities are being withheld, pending further investigation.
