Champion trainer Anthony Nunes PRINCE CHARLES is the favourite to close this afternoon’s holiday meet with victory in the Ash Wednesday Trophy at six and a half furlongs, a non-restricted overnight allowance, after easily beating similar rivals a month ago.

MY SISTER, DYSFUNCTIONAL and CAMPESINO are the only runners in the event to have ever won an overnight allowance event but are high in the scale against PRINCE CHARLES, who will carry 118lb with claiming apprentice Reyan Lewis after using 121lb to beat WARTIME, MISS FORMALITY and HARRY’S TRAIN.

DYSFUNCTIONAL has topweight 126lb and needs at least another furlong, even when at his best, whereas MY SISTER will carry 121lb, heavier than PRINCE CHARLES.

Meanwhile, Nunes is eyeing a three-timer, starting in the second event with GENERATIONAL (Linton Steadman), a half-brother to speedy PATRIARCH and recent winner, UNIVERSAL BOSS.

GENERATIONAL galloped with PRINCE CHARLES at exercise last Thursday morning and won the five and a half-furlong spin, clocking 1:08.2.

In the fourth, Nunes TASK FORCE, with Lewis, reports off a two-month lay-up and will carry 115lb at five furlongs round, blinkers removed after weakening in the equipment in her last four races.

First post for the 11-race card is 11:35 am.
