Action Run stuns Sparkle Diamond in Ahwhofah Sprint
ACTION RUN, a 10-1 shot with jockey Tevin Foster, on Saturday ran down howling favourite, SPARKLE DIAMOND, to land the six-furlong Ahwhofah Sprint by a head as upsetters rocked punters at Caymanas Park.
In the previous event at a mile, United States-bred EROY, under a strong ride from six-time champion Omar Walker, won by a neck, at odds of 4-1, from NIPSTER with Robert Halledeen, as another favourite, DOUBLE CROWN, fell on the nine-race card.
The pins started falling from as early as the third race when Gary Subratie's UNCLE VINNIE, a 10-1 shot, ridden by Halledeen, rallied strongly to outfinish SALAH and SEBASTIAN at seven furlongs.
Punters were afterwards stunned by a massive upsetter, 60-1 long shot, KIAH, in the sixth event, resulting in more than $5m worth of carryovers to Sunday's meet.
Sunday's Sunrise Pick 6 carryover stands at $2.8m in addition to the Twilight 6's starting pot of $1.68m.
There's also a Pick 5 carryover of $638,000 and the Pick 9 will open at $1.22m.
