2 shot dead and partially burnt, 2 others injured, in St James attack

Two men were shot and killed then set ablaze, and two others shot and injured during an attack by unknown assailants in St James on Friday night.

The deceased, both of Barrett Town, St James addresses, have been identified as 28-year-old Jermaine McNaughton of ‘Vietnam’, and 24-year-old Lascelles Kelly, also called ‘DJ’, of Top Hill.

According to reports from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCU), the police’s information arm, McNaughton and Kelly were among a group of men working in the Mount Zion community near Barrett Town at about 8:30 p.m., when they were pounced upon by a group of heavily-armed gunmen, who opened fire.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the bullet-riddled bodies of McLaughlin and Kelly were found partially burnt.

Two other persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and were taken to hospital, where they were admitted.

The St James police who are investigating the incident, are yet to establish a motive for the attack.
