Two women were raped at gunpoint at a Riu hotel in Ironshore, Montego Bay, St James on Thursday night. The alleged rapist escaped after being disarmed and shot by one of the victims.

Loop News understands that the incident occurred around 11pm.

According to police sources, the gunman entered a room being occupied by two women at the prominent hotel through a balcony door.

The man then reportedly held up both women at gunpoint and forcibly had sexual intercourse with them, before being disarmed by one of the victims who opened fire at the suspect.

The suspect was reportedly shot in the upper body but still managed to escape through the balcony door.

A 9mm was handed over to the police who up to publication time were still at the scene of the crime.

Loop News understands that both victims are American nationals. The suspect is understood to be an employee of the hotel.

Up to the time of publication, the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association did not respond to a Loop News request for a comment on the matter.
