Woman perishes in St Elizabeth fire

A 39-year-old woman, Marsha Lennon, perished in a fire that destroyed her home in Accompong Town, St Elizabeth on Friday.

An unidentified man who reportedly sustained burns all over his body remains in hospital in serious condition.

According to the Maggotty police who are investigating the incident, about 6:30 Friday morning, residents saw the house on fire and summoned the police and the fire brigade.

A team from the Santa Cruz Fire Brigade responded.

While conducting cooling-down operations firefighters discovered charred remains believed to be those of Lennon's. The man who was also in the building was found with severe burns and taken to hospital where he has been admitted.
