Woman held trying to register stolen baby pointed out in ID parade

A woman who was held trying to register the baby that was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee hospital last month has been pointed out in an identification parade as being seen on the grounds of the medical facility the day the child went missing.

Police said the identification parade was held on Monday. The suspect is to be charged on Tuesday, according to a release from the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Police report that the baby was taken from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital about 4:30 am on January 9, after the child's mother went to the bathroom to freshen up, leaving the baby on the bed.

But on her return, her newborn was missing. An alarm was immediately raised.

The baby boy was recovered after police caught a woman trying to register the child at the Registrar General Department.

It led to an emotional reunion between the child and his parents last Friday that captured the hearts of Jamaicans.
