Woman gets four years for luring underage girl into sex acts
Oshin Morgan, the St Catherine woman who was found guilty of coercing an underage girl into having sexual intercourse with several men at the house she shared with her mother, has been sentenced to four years and five months behind bars.
Morgan was sentenced on Friday in the St Catherine Circuit Court by Justice Georgiana Fraser after pleading guilty to human trafficking.
Morgan was also charged with procuring prostitution and living off the earnings of prostitution, but she pleaded not guilty to those offences.
Her mother, Andrea Morgan, was also arrested and charged with encouraging the violation of a child under the age of 16 years, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution ended up accepting Oshin's guilty plea to trafficking in person, and offered no evidence on the other charges against her, and similarly offered no evidence on the charge against her mother.
The court was told that between January 2013 and May 2013, Oshin Morgan encouraged and harboured the complainant at her home in Portmore, St Catherine. The youngster was encouraged to have sexual intercourse with various men although Morgan knew she was underage.
The court was further told that Morgan’s mother knew what was happening, but did nothing to stop it.
