The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Devon Paltie of Three Miles River in the parish.

One of the men who alighted from the car had a brief conversation with the businessman before he and his accomplices started to fire a barrage of gunshots, forcing workers and customers to scamper for cover.

When the shooting ended, Paltie and his wife were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and were taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead and his wife, who was shot in the leg, was admitted for treatment.

No motive has yet been established for the killing by detectives from the Savanna -la-Mar Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), who are investigating the incident.
