Weddy Weddy celebrates 14 years
Stone Love will mark 14 years of its popular 'Weddy Weddy' weekly party series with an anniversary event on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the Stone Love Headquarters, 41 Burlington Avenue in St Andrew.
The celebration, which is being staged in association with the 'Energy God' Elephant Man, includes the "Crowning of Miss Weddy Weddy", according to a news release.
Noting that the event traditionally boasts good music, high fashion and a huge network of Jamaica’s top entertainers coming together in a great party vibe, organisers said female patrons are rewarded for their support in the form of the Miss Weddy Weddy competition.
To be chosen as winner, the champion woman would have to be a repeat attendee, consistently dressing to please, explained Duane Powell, sound selector and son of Stone Love founder, Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell.
“We have our winner. She’s been coming to the party for five consecutive years and she’s a real eye-pleaser. She truly knows how to represent,” joked Duane Powell.
“Be sure to come celebrate with Stone Love, whether you are a veteran supporter, or you are new to the event, we will entertain you.”
Entertainment will be provided by Stone Love, Boom Boom and Harry Hype, Digital Chris and Nuh Grain. Admission is five hundred dollars $500 and ladies will be free before 12 pm.
Weddy Weddy's first staging was brought to fans by Stone Love in association with the late legendary dancer, Bogle and Elephant Man. Weddy Weddy has become a staple event within the Dancehall culture.
It enjoys local and international popularity and continues to attract large and diverse crowds.
“This year, party goers can expect a very fun filled night. We will be having persons from all over the globe. Expect to party with persons from England, Switzerland, Japan, North America and persons from other countries in the Caribbean,” shared Duane Powell.
