The driver of a taxi was arrested by the police on Friday morning after reportedly running a red light with his car and crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of Beechwood Avenue and Lyndhurst Road in St Andrew.

The details of the crash are still not clear, but alleged eyewitnesses said the taxi driver was being chased by cops, when he drove his vehicle through the red light and collided with a Suzuki Vitara before the cab crashed into a perimeter fence of a business facility.

The cabbie reportedly then attempted to escape from the police on foot but was collared by the lawmen. The incident left a woman injured and extensive damage to both vehicles involved as well as the perimeter fence.

"Pure criminals ah drive taxi," a policeman was heard saying at the accident scene in a video captured by Loop News. Watch the clip below.
