Incumbent, Dr Peter Phillips, retained the presidency of the People's National Party (PNP) on Saturday at the special delegates’ conference at the National Area in St Andrew.

Phillips tallied 1,427 votes, with challenger, Peter Bunting, getting 1,351, thus a margin of victory of 76.

But victory nonetheless for Phillips who took over as leader of the party two years ago when former Prime Minister, Portia Simpson stepped, down as Opposition Leader.

A loss for Phillips would have been the first time that an incumbent leader of the PNP would have been unseated, but the delegates collectively maintained the tradition and kept Phillips as the president, albeit by the narrow margin.

Loop News was at the National Arena and captured moments of Phillips' victory speech, along with some of his OnePNP team’s celebration of the win.
