WATCH: Innovation and discovery at Girls in ICT Day

Innovation and discovery competed for dominance as girls and young women spent a day improving their digital skills to mark the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Girls in ICT Day on 26 April.

Participants aged from 15 to 22 came from 25 institutions across Jamaica to join in the event, held at the UWI Mona Visitor’s Lodge in Kingston. The theme of the day was #SafeGirlsSafeFuture, and the young participants competed to find digital solutions to safety issues facing today’s women.  

The day, which formed a part of both regional and global initiatives, was aimed at inspiring young women so that more feel empowered to enter careers in ICT. Here’s how the day unfolded:
