WATCH: Golden age homes and infirmaries sanitised

The government has begun an extensive sanitisation exercise at golden age homes and infirmaries across the island.

It is part of the COVID-19 comprehensive response measures that’s geared towards protecting the elderly and homeless, who are considered the most vulnerable within our society.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government of Community Development, in partnership with the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the Office of the Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), National Solid Waste and Management Authority (NSWMA), among others.

Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie said additional staff will be hired to assist with the cleanup effort which will continue over the next two months. The cleanup started at infirmaries and golden age homes in Kingston, Clarendon, St Mary and Trelawny; followed by St James, St Thomas, Portland and Manchester. Watch the video below.
