WATCH: Former rival PJ Patterson salutes Edward Seaga

Former Prime Minister PJ Patterson has hailed his peer, Edward Seaga, as a "formidable political giant" who had a "monumental impact" on the lives of Jamaicans.

Seaga passed away in a Miami hospital on Tuesday on his 89th birthday.

Patterson, in his tribute to Seaga, which he recorded while in Barbados for his book launch slated for Friday, described the late former prime minister as a “leader of strong convictions and purpose, courageous and energetic in the pursuit of a vision dedicated to our upliftment in the eyes of the world.”

He also said that in pursuit of his huge and valued portfolio responsibilities, Seaga was trusted with the task of completing the matrix of institutional building which was essential for the modern nation state. Watch his tribute in full in the video below.
