WATCH: Fire rages at business complex on Ashenheim Road, Kingston

Some 60 firefighters are now on Ashenheim Road, Kingston battling to put out a fire that has destroyed sections of a business complex located in the popular business hub.

The blaze is threatening to spread to other areas.

Reports are that close to 60 firefighters from at least four fire stations in the Corporate Area have responded to the blaze.

One firefighter said that about 6.40 am on Saturday, residents living close to Ashenheim Road saw smoke coming from the location and made a distress call to the authorities.

Reports are that after several hours of battling the blaze, the firefighters have managed to somewhat contain the fire that has triggered nervous moments in the area. There are no reports of injuries.

Julian Davis Buckle, Superintendent of the Kingston Division in the Jamaica Fire Brigade, said the place that is on fire is Atlantic Hardware and Plumbing.

The senior firefighter said the PVC pipes located at the complex are fuelling the blaze, but the special fire team on the location is equipped to address the problem.
